Same stars, different scores. Why?
Score = (v / (v + m)) × R + (m / (v + m)) × C. Ottawa-area average: C = 4.456140350877193; m = 200. R is the recorded Google rating; v is the recorded review count. Confidence is v / (v + m), the rating’s weight in the score.

Questions
Torta Boyz has more reviews, so why is it second?
Reviews earn confidence, not points. Torta Boyz is rated 4.8 on 1,068 reviews; Ay Dios Mio Tacos is 4.9 on 626. That extra 0.1 of rating outweighs the gap in volume, giving scores of 4.79 versus 4.75.
How much do I trust the rest of the list?
It varies. Of the 54 ranked places, 10 have high confidence, 28 medium and 16 low. A low-confidence place has fewer reviews, so its score sits closer to the 4.46 Ottawa-area average than its own rating.
Where are barBURRITO, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Mucho Burrito Fresh Mexican Grill?
Left out on purpose. They are chains with 10 or more locations in Canada, as are Taco Bell, Quesada Burritos & Tacos, Fat Bastard Burrito and Guac Mexi Grill. This list ranks the local places.
