Why does 4.8 rank above 4.9?
Score = (v / (v + m)) × R + (m / (v + m)) × C. Ottawa-area average: C = 4.433395176252319; m = 46. R is the recorded Google rating; v is the recorded review count. Confidence is v / (v + m), the rating’s weight in the score.

Questions
Is Hog's Back or Andrew Haydon second?
Hog's Back, by a hair. Both are rated 4.7, with 3,405 and 3,398 reviews. Their scores round to the same 4.70. Treat them as tied on the numbers.
Why do so many neighbourhood parks rank low?
Most local parks have few reviews. Of 537 ranked, 267 are low confidence, and their scores sit close to the 4.43 Ottawa-area average. A quiet park near you may simply be under-reviewed.
Why are some parks left out?
