Where does the data come from?
A Google Maps data pull of businesses in Ottawa and Gatineau, plus population numbers from Statistics Canada. Nothing else is used in the studies.
How are businesses compared?
Every place is given a Score of (v/(v+m))*R + (m/(v+m))*C, which blends its own rating with the Ottawa-area average. Confidence is v/(v+m), so the more reviews a place has, the more its own rating counts.
Can I use the data?
Yes. Every study has a methodology section and a free CSV download. Read more about the licence in our Download the data and licence section.
How fresh is it?
Data was pulled 2026-10-29. All data is updated every 90 days.
