The rest of the top five: Kanzan Japanese Grill in Kanata (4.9, 1,782), Tava Turkish Cuisine in Kanata (4.9, 1,335), Tayanti Peruvian at 118 Clarence St (4.9, 1,041) and Yummy Touch Kitchen (4.9, 886). Ayla's Social Kitchen on Preston St sits at #8 (4.9, 796).
For dessert after, PurpleX on Wilbrod St leads our dessert list at 5.0 from 618 reviews, ahead of Choco Waffle (5.0, 443) and Yummy Waffle on Bank St (4.9, 984). Strati Tiramisù is #7. It sits at Sussex Drive and Mackenzie Avenue, between the National Gallery and the Chateau Laurier, with lookouts over the Ottawa Locks, the river and Parliament. No admission fee is listed. Parking on Pioneer Road is paid.
From the park, cross the Pìdàban footbridge to Kìwekì Point, formerly Nepean Point, for panoramic views of Parliament Hill and Ottawa-Gatineau. It reopened in May 2025 and is open year-round. From April 1 to October 15 it is open sunrise to 11 pm. From October 16 to March 31 it is open 7 am to 7 pm.
Other free strolls: Hog's Back Park (#2) and Andrew Haydon Park (#3), plus Strathcona Park (#5) and Remic Rapids Park (#6). The Ornamental Gardens are #18 on our attractions list. For a longer day, Gatineau Park covers more than 361 km². The NCC warns that its southern sector often fills up on fine weekends, with road closures and full parking lots, so try a weekday or the quieter areas further north.
Indoor and winter date ideas
The Rideau Canal Skateway is 7.8 km long and free when open, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The season depends on the weather and usually runs January to early March. The 2026-27 opening date is not announced yet. Skate rentals and sharpening are available, and the NCC posts ice conditions online. Non-skaters can use the packed-snow walking lane from Waverley to Bank and from Lakeview to Dow's Lake once there is enough snow.

For an anniversary, Nordik Spa-Nature sits at 16 ch. Nordik in Chelsea, about 10 minutes from Gatineau-Ottawa at the edge of Gatineau Park. Tourisme Outaouais describes it as the largest spa in North America, with 10 outdoor pools, 9 saunas and the Källa saltwater floating pool. Guests must be 16 or older, booking is mandatory, and Nordik suggests booking at least two weeks ahead. Silence is the rule in all saunas and the Källa. Valentine's Day and festival dates
We found no official Valentine's Day date event announced for 2027. Winterlude covers the day: the 49th edition runs January 29 to February 15, 2027, with the Crystal Garden in Confederation Park and the Snowflake Kingdom in Jacques-Cartier Park in Gatineau. Pair it with a skate and a dinner booking made well ahead.
In spring, the Canadian Tulip Festival at Commissioners Park, Dow's Lake, calls itself the world's largest free public tulip festival. The 2026 festival ran May 8 to 18, and its Tulip Trail cost $5 per person. The 2027 dates are not announced yet, so plan for early to mid May.
